  • Finishing the Job - Disabling Media Center

Even after disabling Media Center via group policy there is still a MC process that will run periodically. I didn't realize it until my "extender" wouldn't go to sleep (MCUpdate had pegged 1 CPU). Fortunately, it's easy to fix. Open up the task scheduler and right-click the mcupdate...

  • DXVA is working!

Good new for those who jumped on Sage 6.5.1 for the EVR. They've got hardware acceleration working! Don't know when 6.5.2 is coming, but hopefully not too long from now. Until then, here's a screen cap :) MPEG2-TS[H.264 16:9 1080p@24fps, AC3/640Kbps@48kHz 5.1] UPDATE: No waiting involved...

  • SageTV 6.5.1 Beta with EVR support is available

Not much more to say. Get it here . UPDATE: While the EVR is exposed, it doesn't actually work (VMR does). There are lots of other reasons to give it a go, I am... Not quite what I was hoping for, but definitely a big step in the right direction. UPDATE 2: openning an elevated cmd prompt and running...

  • SageTV getting EVR support

Good news for Vista* SageTV users, I got an email last week** letting me know that Sage should be starting a beta with EVR support (6.5.x?) this week. I can't wait to get the visual quality, and CPU offload that the EVR brings in an easy to use 10' interface (EVRPlay works, but its 10' interface...

  • DVRMSToolbox 1.2.1.5

DVRMSToolbox is a set of tools to perform actions on media files. While DVRMSToolbox is designed to work on Windows Media Center Edition (MCE) PCs, everything but the automated commercial skipping will work on any Windows based machine. It will also work on media files created by other DVR systems (like...

  • SageTVLauncher

SageTVLauncher runs in the backgroup and listens for WM_INPUT messages from the eHome (Media Center) Remote. It will launch SageTV (or any configured application) when "The Green Button" is pressed. It also listens for other eHome action buttons (like Music, Recorded TV, Live TV, etc) and will...

  • New SageMC looks good

I have a confession; for the last month or so I've been using the default STV in Sage. It took some getting used to, but I was seduced by all the flexibility, options and simple navigation. But a new version of SageMC just came out and it's looking really slick (been missing the mini-guide and...

  • LcdWriter for Sage (and Media Center)

Just uploaded a new version of LcdWriter updated for SageTV. The installer includes both writers for Media Center and SageTV, there weren't any major changes for Media Center so if you already have the Vista rev working there's no need to install this one. In addition to the basic writing features...

  • Watered down?

I've never owned a Tivo, so I'm not that familiar with it's unique "value add" to the PVR. But I have a hard time seeing how putting Tivo on a PC (Nero's LiquidTV ) and charging $100 for the application ($200 if you don't BYOT) and $100 a year in service fees can be sucessful...
