I am trying to convert DVR-MS files in SD and HD to 480p avi's that I can play on my PDA. I am using the Mencoder profile configured with the good quality Xvid. Everything works great, except it is really slow. Mencoder runs at 1-2 fps. Is this normal? My computer is a 1.86 GHZ Core 2 Duo with 4 GB of ram. Does anyone else have this issue?

What happens when you run it outside DTb (i.e., from the command-line)?  Same result?  If so, post the mencoder output.

Is anything else running at the time?
 

I will try that and let you know? I have never used it from command line before, but I'll try. Nothing else is running at the same time.

Just to clarify - I meant run mencoder.exe, not run DTb, from the command-line.  See here:
