    Total noob please help

I have recently installed 2 TV tuners in my MCE 2005 rig and I am looking for a way to have the recorded shows stripped of commercials and compressed down to save space (WMV or AVI) I have read several posts on how to do this but I am still confused. Is there anyone that can give me a step by step process (including how to setup filewatcher) on how to do this. this software looks amazing I just don't want to do trial and error for several weeks before I get it right.

More specifically I want to have it automatically take the recording, remove the commercials, compress it, store the compressed file in my videos folder, and delete the original DVR-MS file and the clipped commercials. Is this possible ? does it work for OTA HDTV as well?

Please help, as I am not that versed in this area and thanks in advance.

yes got two tuners to also a hd tuner makes 3.. yes and yea if you have the proper codecs installed ((HD) I use klcodec345f.exe)) and

use DVRMStoMPEGGUI and make sure the box is checked

    and use proccess directory

select directroy where you have files with commericals then

    slelect a output directory

    use mencoder profile

     Attachment: cutcommcoverttoXvid.zip

or find a program called crunchie  and use the remove commercials and output to recorded tv (change record tv path some where else) profile

read the Wiki would help you out..

Thanks for the help with the codecs space. When you say "make sure the box is checked" which box are you referring to?

I messed around with the DVrMStoolbox last night but could not get the recorded vids to automatically process. I have selected the watched folder c:\documents....\recorded TV and selected the profile (on the first tab) to cut commercials and save as DVR-MS in Recorded TV (Just to see if it works). With these settings I have had no luck. Do I need to change anything else on the file watcher tab? or processing tab? I see the file watcher icon in the system tray but nothing pops up after a show has finished recording to show that it is being processed. Should there be something that says that the file is being processed?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    DVRMStoMPEGGUI

use DVRMStoMPEGGUI (located in dvrmstoolbox directory)  to take out commericals (dvdrmstoolbox only lets you watch a show and skip the commericals you need to use DVRMStoMPEGGUI and a profile to take commericals out.. and with verion 1.0.1.5 make sure box is checked with 1.0.1.6 it defualt checked.

i could expain it with logmein free and donation throught spacesbox.com and phone call if you want. read wiki.

the fw should point to your recorded tv folder by default.  so you just need to create (or modify) and existing profile to add the additional steps.  if you want to save the surround sound in HD shows, you can either use WMVHD (recent post in my blog how to do that) or use mencoder to convert to ac3 directly (some have reported audio sync issues with that), or convert to mpeg then use mencoder to convert the file.
